Dorothy Jean Dandridge (November 9, 1922 – September 8, 1965) was an American film and theatre actress, singer, and dancer. She is perhaps one of the most famous black actresses to have a successful Hollywood career and the first to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in the 1954 film Carmen Jones.
They let her perform at white venues but she couldn't eat or get a drink at those places. She did pave the way for black actresses to get into Hollywood.
"And that time she dipped her feet in the pool and the manager had it drained and cleaned the next day."
"She was absolutely gorgeous and talented 🫶🏽"
"This is beautiful ✨✨✨💕"
